Changing someone’s primary role keeps the other roles they hold
Team members can hold more than one role — a CSM who is also an expert, for example. Before this change, moving such a person to a new primary role directly in the identity provider could replace one of the roles they already held, so their expert profile or work history under that role could disappear from view.
Now, on their next sign-in, they are given the new role alongside the ones they hold, and nothing they already had is overwritten. Someone with a single role still has it updated in place, as before.
- The new role is set up from the person’s verified email address. If their address is not verified yet, they are asked to verify it before they can sign in.
- Their previous roles stay active until an administrator revokes them from the user’s Access and roles tab.
